We'd sit back and watch the world go by

Winter is perseverance

It is teary eyes and bleak skies completed by concrete trees.

It is no expectations and no pressure.

Winter is bundling up when the world tries to ice you out.

Spring is excitement

It is instability and upheaval decorated with florals.

It is smiling at the sun because why would you not?

Spring is laughter and proof that it cannot stay dark forever

Summer is motion

It is sweltering heat and buggy nights with bonfire perfume.

It is the thrill of sneaking into a party you never got on the list for.

Summer is the overwhelming nature of all that is both good and bad.

Fall is relief

It is death and decay ending with leaves on fire.

It is crisp air and the quiet beauty of simplicity

Fall is the comfort that everything must end.

  1. Another poem about nature's laws. Because this one is purely about nature, it is calmer and more predictable, like nature usually is. I liked the association of Fall with relief in the final stanza. It's an optimistic way of considering all of the little deaths in nature that occur during fall. The relief of life into a new cycle.

  2. I really liked this poem, the way that you carried through the seasonal cycle was very calming and it didn't feel like I had to put in a lot of effort to understand what you were saying. I found it interesting that to you "Fall is the comfort that everything must end," because to me fall has always been about new beginnings. Cool how you can learn about people and their views through their writing!
